Columbus, Ohio is the Midwest's Best Vacation Spot

Columbus, Ohio is one the largest cities in the Midwest. Though many people think of crops and rural areas when they think about Ohio, there's much more to offer. Allow GOGO Charters to show you some of the best sites in the city, and trust us to get you there safely and efficiently with a reliable charter bus rental

The Ohio State Buckeyes

In the capital city, Buckeye Fever is pretty much a requirement. This area really supports their sports team and goes the extra mile for the beloved college players. The Ohio State University is an educational center of higher learning, as well as a main hospital in the area. Don't be offended if everything you see is about this team. Scarlet and Grey are pretty much run the town, and tailgating at the OSU Stadium is a major pastime. If you have a chance and come during the season, why not visit the stadium and catch a game?

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants

Now, like any great city, the food here is in ample selection and has diverse offerings. However, exclusive to Columbus is the Cameron Mitchell Legacy and several of his eateries. Choose from Cameron's American Bistro, Cap City Fine Diner & Bar, The Guild House, Marcella?u2022u2019s, Martini Modern Italian, Mitchell's Ocean Club, and Molly Woo's Asian Bistro. His restaurants are world famous, but the headquarters is here in the capital city.

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

With over 80 acres of spectacular plants and other offerings, the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is a great spot for a day of relaxation. This botanical garden is open daily to the public, and is one of the oldest structures in the city. Today, there are more than 400 different plant species and they have something from each climate zone. The Bonsai Courtyard has numerous seasonal displays, which includes orchids and bonsai collections. Also, in this area are more than 40 species of palms.

Zoo and Aquarium

If you love animals, you will adore the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. They welcomed new lion cubs this year that are growing quickly. Take a relaxing boat ride on the Scioto River, or view one of the many aquariums and animals on display. Rated the best zoo in 2012, it is clean, spacious and has some amazing attractions. The Zoombezi Bay addition brings fun and games to a place that children love. The zoo got world recognition on December 22, 1956. They were the first zoo to have a western lowland gorilla in captivity. Colo was born and is still living at the zoo. At the age of 57, she has quite an extended family now. She is currently the oldest living gorilla in captivity. The Zoo has helped many zoos around the world with birthing and keeping gorillas. Jack Hannah is famous for keeping this zoo in its great condition and has brought a great deal of fame to the park too.

German Village

One of the most historic areas in this city is German Village. The German immigrants settled here in the 19th century and in those days held one-third of the city's population. On December 30, 1974, the city was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is a Preserved American Community and includes some great restaurants and iconic buildings. Schmitt's is a local legend. Known for their Bahama mama brats and crÅme puffs overstuffed with Bavarian crÅme, their food is sure to please. If you visit no other restaurant on your trip, this one is a must experience for yourself.
