Fort Concho

Encompassing more than 1600 acres, Fort Concho was established in 1867 as an outpost for the 4th and 10th Calvary's to protect the local settlements. The post was the home of the famous Buffalo Soldiers and at full capacity, 400-500 personnel were stationed at the Fort at any one time. The fort was deactivated in 1889.

Fort Concho features tours of the grounds, including enlisted men's barracks, the headquarters, hospital/chapel and the officers row. The museum also holds special events like airshows and open houses to get the publics attention.

The CAF Airpower Museum also provides programs such as How to become a CAF Pilot and the 12 Planes of Christmas program. George W Bush Childhood Home

If you want to learn more about our 43rd President, visit the George W Bush Childhood Home in Midland, TX. As a young boy in the 1950's, George Bush grew up in Midland where the economy was booming as the oil industry developed in the area. The city had more than  215 oil company offices and the city took on the nickname of "The Tall City of the Plains." In 1950 the Bush family moves into a home at 405 E. Maple St.

In 1951, the Bush family moves into the home at 1412 W Ohio Avenue where they would live for the next 7 years. This would be the favorite home of George W. Bush as a child. The home is open for tours and their is an on-site gift shop with books and materials about the future President's home.
