The city has more than one hundred parks to explore, including the Morrison Nature Center and the surrounding Star K Ranch, a beautiful wildlife habitat. Across the 200-acre property, there are numerous hiking and horseback riding trails, including the scenic 14-mile Sand Creek Trail. The air is clear and there is wildlife around every turn of the trail, from wooded areas to small lakes and beaches.

You can also visit Cherry Creek State Park, the perfect places to see a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is home to hawks and bald eagles, and is a great spot for off-road cyclists. Or, for a more relaxed time, you can check out the Plains Conservation Center. It is a great spot to do some picnicking while also getting a history lesson on the plains Native American tribes. They offer guided tours and other fun activities for all ages.

In the mood  for fishing? Check out the Aurora Reservoir. It is a 3200-acre reservoir and one of the best fishing spots in the state! There is also a small swimming beach and boat dock, where you can rent a boat for a day of fishing out on the water. It is also easily accessible from the main metropolitan area, so it is very easy for a day trip.

Others include the Gully Homestead of 1870, the Victorian-style Centennial House of 1890, the American War Mothers National Memorial Home, and the wonderfully Art Deco-style KOA Building.

The Aurora History Museum is a landmark for the town, offering a window into its storied and fascinating history. It is a breezy walkthrough of a quintessential American town! Learn about how a small suburban town was able to build its way in to the major American powerhouse it is today.
